Cartoonist and mathematician, John de Pillis uses
illustrations and everyone’s favorite topic from
Calculus II, linear algebra, to elucidate the mysteries
of Special Relativity through its various paradoxes. Wednesday April 3, 2014 at 7pm in room 144 of the Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons.
Prof. of Mathematics at the University of
California - Riverside, John de Pillis has
authored a textbook on linear algebra, and
“777 Mathematical Conversation Starters.”
He illustrated “Fishing with a Net: How to
Create Web sites That Work.” His most recent
co-authored work is “Illustrated Special
Relativity Through Its Paradoxes: A Fusion of
Linear Algebra, Graphics and Reality.”
